When I try to register, I cannot scroll down to check the "I Accept" box for the User Agreement. What should I do?
To properly display the site your screen resolution must be set to 1024 x 768 with 32 bit colors. Please reset you screen resolution and complete your registration.
Why aren't the videos loading? Why do I see "Buffering"?
Unlike other video players you may use on the web, the ASD Video Glossary is actually downloading 2 videos simultaneously. This takes more time. Your connection speed to the Internet also plays a role. Ideal performance is experienced with a broadband connection using DSL, cable modem or T1 line. Dial-up and slower DSL connections are not suitable for viewing the videos. If you are attempting to access the ASD Video Glossary from within a business or institution, the firewall settings may block you from viewing the videos. Please contact your network administrator to trouble shoot your particular situation.
Why can't I see the ASD Video Glossary in my browser window?
You must use Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater on a PC and Safari version 2.0 or greater for Mac (Firefox & Netscape are not supported).
My screen is entirely black and no video is playing. What should I do?
In order to view streaming video, your browser must be set up to allow Active X controls. This can be accomplished by following these steps:
Select the "Custom level..." button, then scroll down to the "Scripting" section and ensure that "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets" are enabled.
Your accelerator is set too high on your Windows Media Player. Please perform the following steps:

Why don't the videos play on a Mac?

While we cannot give you permission to "download" any video clips from the ASD Video Glossary, you are more than welcome to link your PowerPoint presentation directly to the ASD Video Glossary on the Internet. You can embed a link into your PowerPoint presentation (or, if you are not using a PowerPoint presentation, you can login directly to the ASD Video Glossary).
If you are going to present from a new computer, be sure to login before your presentation, so you don't have to do it during the presentation. Your link should go right to the ASD Video Glossary. You will need to then select the exact spot within the site you want to go (e.g., Social Interaction, Nonverbal Behavior, clips #1) and you can list the target spots in your presentation as a reminder to yourself. The best performance will be with a wired connection, not wireless. You should rehearse and view all the video clips you plan to use in your presentation in advance and remember not to turn off your computer, cut off the Internet connection, or move from the site between rehearsal and presentation time. This way, the video clips will be cached and the "buffering" and screen load time should be shorter.

- Within Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" (which is located on the top of the screen) and select "Internet Options."
- Click on the "Security" tab
- Click on the "Internet" icon.
- Move the slider on the bottom left of the window until your security level is "Medium".
Select the "Custom level..." button, then scroll down to the "Scripting" section and ensure that "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets" are enabled.
- Click "Apply" (located on the bottom right side of the window).
- Click "OK."

- Close out the ASD Video Glossary
- Open Windows Media Player
- Select Tools – Options – Performance Tab
- Set Video Acceleration to none and click Apply
- Close Windows Media Player
- Re-launch ASD Video Glossary
Please check your browser settings:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select "Tools," then "Internet Options."
- Clicking the "Advanced" tab within the Internet Options box, scroll about half-way down to "Java (Sun)/Microsoft VM."
- Make sure that you have "Java Enabled"/"Use JRE 1.5.0_04 for applet (requires restart)" enabled (checked) and click "Apply".
- Close your browser completely. Make sure that there is no other browser windows open and then reopen the browser. You may need to completely restart your computer if you are not sure what is open.

Why don't the videos play on a Mac?
In order to see the videos on a Mac:
- Flash must be installed.
- You must also download the free Flip4Mac QuickTime Add-In that allows Windows Media Video to be seen in the Mac's native QuickTime Player. Click here to download. You will need to restart your computer after this add-in has been installed.
Be sure to turn off your pop-up blocker. The ASD Video Glossary opens in a new window. To turn off pop-up blocker:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click “Tools” from the browser menu bar.
- Select “Pop-up Blocker” from the drop down menu.
- Select “Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.”
